Chicken Qorma Recipe



Ingredients:



1 kg chicken, cut into pieces

1 cup yogurt

1 onion, chopped

2-3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, grated

2-3 green chillies, chopped

2 tomatoes, chopped

2 tbsp oil or ghee

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 tsp coriander powder

1 tsp cumin powder

1 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp garam masala

1 tsp red chilli powder

Salt, to taste

Coriander leaves, for garnishing


Instructions:


In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the yogurt, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt.


Add the chicken pieces to the bowl, and marinate them in the yogurt mixture for at least an hour.


Heat oil in a large pot.


Add cumin seeds and fry for 1-2 minutes until they start to sizzle and pop.


Add chopped onions and sauté for 5-6 minutes until they turn golden brown.


Add minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for 1-2 minutes.


Add the marinated chicken to the pot, and cook for 5-6 minutes until the chicken is browned on all sides.


Add chopped tomatoes and green chillies, and cook for another 5-6 minutes until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.


Add a cup of water to the pot, cover it, and let the chicken cook for about 20-25 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.


Sprinkle garam masala over the chicken qorma and give it a final stir.


Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice, naan or roti.
